Section 10(1) in The Karnataka Education Act, 1983
(1)The State Government may, by notification, establish a Board of Secondary Education to be called "The Board of Secondary Education, Karnataka", the composition, powers and functions of which shall be such as may be prescribed. The functions of the Board shall include,-(a)advising the State Government on the co-ordinated development of secondary education in the State; and(b)the conduct of examinations, conforming to the minimum standards as may be prescribed and the award of certificates.
