Section 12(2) in The Merchant Shipping (Fire Appliances) Rules, 1969
(2)The number and position of hydrants shall be such that at least two such jets of water may he rapidly and simultaneously directed into any part of the ship by means of two fire hoses one of which shall not exceed 18.00 metres in length and each such jet of water being supplied from a separate hydrant.
