40. Passing of persons, animals or vehicles in or across canals.
(1)No person shall pass, or cause any animal or vehicle to pass, in or across the bank or channel of any canal at any place except where indicated by a notice erected under the order of the Executive Engineer in a conspicuous place.(2)In fixing places at which the passing in or across the bank or channel of a canal is permitted under sub-rule (1), the Executive Engineer shall have careful regard to the reasonable convenience of the people residing or holding land in the vicinity who are required to cross the canal or water their animals.
