The Conservators of Forest may sanction rewards to forest subordinates for services rendered towards the capture of elephants not exceeding Rs. 300 for each elephant. The scale of rewards should be fixed as under:

Capture under 4' 6" in height 120
From 4'6" to 5'0" height 150
From 5'1" to 5'6" height 180
From 57" to 6'0" height 210
From 6'1" to 6'6" height 240
From 67" to 7'0" height 270
Over 7'0" 300

The District Forest Officer should submit proposals for the disbursement of rewards to the Conservator immediately after capture but 50 per cent of the amounts proposed may be disbursed in anticipation of such sanction, the remainder being withheld for six months, or until the animals are sold, as the case may be, provided that, in the former case, the elephants are then found to be properly trained and in good health.
