Code of Criminal Procedure (Bihar Amendment) Act, 1984(Bihar Act 9 of 1985)Received the assent of the President on 13.8.1985, published in Bihar Gazette (Extra-ordinary) No. 52, dated 6.9.1985.An Act to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 in its application to the State of Bihar.Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the Thirty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and extent.

(1)This Act may be called the Code of Criminal Procedure (Bihar Amendment) Act, 1984.
(2)It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar.

2. Amendment of Section 357 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act II of 1974).

- In sub-section (1) of Section 357 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (II of 1974) the following proviso shall be added namely:"Provided that the person against whom an offence is committed belongs to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as defined under clause (24) and clause (25) to Article 366 of the Constitution, the Court shall at the time of judgment pass order that the entire amount of fine realised or any part of it will be utilised for the benefit of such person by way of compensation."
