Section 300(1) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(1)Sailors in the following categories shall be considered in respect of the award of badges as fresh entries from the date of their return to the Service :-(a)Sailors who rejoin after an absence of three years (5 years in the case of Reservists), except as provided in sub-regulation (1) of regulation 299;(b)Recovered deserters, unless the 'R.' or'R.Q.' is removed.
