Section 23(10) in Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Act, 1996
(10)to confer degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions on persons who -(a)shall have pursued an approved course of study or training in a college or in an approved institution, unless exempted therefrom in the manner prescribed by the statutes and shall have passed the examinations prescribed by the University, or(b)shall have carried on research under conditions prescribed by the statutes;
