Section 25 in Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969
25. Academic Council.
(1)The Academic Council of a University shall consist of the following persons, all the whom, shall be members ex officio,-(i)the Vice-Chancellor of the University concerned ;(ii)the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University concerned, if any ;(iii)the Deans of the Faculties of the University concerned ;(iv)the Head of the Department of the University concerned having the status of Professors or Readers ;(v)Six Principals from the constituent and affiliated colleges of the University concerned by rotation, nominated by the ViceChancellor ;(vi)four Professors from colleges of the University concerned representing subjects other than those represented by the Principals, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor ; and(vii)Deans of the Faculties of the other University established under the provisions of this Act.(2)The Academic Council of a University shall have the powers to co-opt not more than five persons possessing special knowledge of subjects not otherwise adequately represented on the Academic Council.(3)The terms and conditions of the office of the co-opted members of the Academic Council shall be such as may be prescribed by the Statutes in this behalf.
