Section 9 in THE THUNCHATH EZHUTHACHAN MALAYALAM UNIVERSITY ACT, 2013
9. The General Council.- The General Council shall consist of the following members,
namely:-(a)Ex-Officio members(i)The Chancellor;(ii)The Pro-Chancellor;(iii)The Vice-Chancellor;(iv)The Pro-Vice-Chancellor;(v)Secretary to Government in charge of the Higher Education Department;(vi)Secretary to Government in charge of the Finance Department;(vii)Secretary to Government in charge of the Cultural Affairs Department;(viii)Member of Parliament, representing the area where the University Headquarters is situated;(ix)Member of the Legislative Assembly, representing the area where theUniversity Headquarters is situated;(x)ViceChancellor,KeralaKalamandalam;(xi)President, Kerala SahithyaAcademy;(xii)Chairman, Kerala Sangeeta NatakaAcademy;(xiii)Chairman, Kerala Lalitha KalaAcademy;(xiv)Chairman, Kerala FolkloreAcademy;(xv)Director, Bhasha Institute;(xvi)Director, Malayalam Mission;(xvii)Director, Centre For Kerala Heritage Studies;(xviii)Director, Vastu Vidya Gurukulam;(xix)Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Faculty of Language Studies;(xx)Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Faculty of Literature;(xxi)Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Faculty of Arts;(xxii)Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Faculty of Heritage Studies;(xxiii)Chairman of theAdvisory Committee, Faculty of TraditionalKnowledgeSystems;(xxiv)Dean, Faculty of Language Studies;(xxv)Dean, Faculty of Literature;(xxvi)Dean, Faculty of Arts;(xxvii)Dean, Faculty of Heritage Studies;(xxviii)Dean, Faculty ofTraditional Knowledge Systems;(xxix)Chairman, ChalachithraAcademy;(xxx)Vice Chairmen of Research Councils;(b)Nominated members(i)One member each nominated by the Government from Kerala Kala Mandalam,Kerala SahithyaAcademy, Kerala Sangeetha NadakaAcademy, Kerala Lalitha KalaAcademy,KeralaFolkloreAcademy,MalayalamMission,CentreforKeralaHeritageStudies,VasthuvidyaGurukulam of which atleast one shall be a women and one shall be from Scheduled Caste or SCHEDULEd Tribe;(ii)Two Public men having interest in literary and cultural activities to be nominated by the Government.(iii)One person representing the printing media and one person representing the audio visual media, to be nominated by the Government.(c)Elected Members(i)Two persons elected by the students from among themselves;(ii)Two Persons elected by the Research Scholars from among themselves;(iii)Two persons elected by the Directors of the Schools of the University from among themselves;(iv)Two teachers elected by the full time teachers of the University from amongthemselves;(v)Two persons elected by the non-teaching staff of the University from amongthemselves;
