Section 6 in The Orissa Forest Shooting Rules, 1973

6. Shooting blocks.

(1)Subject to the control of Conservator or Forests, the Divisional Forest Officer in consultation with Wild Life Conservation Officer, may divide the reserve or protected forests under his charge other than parks and sanctuaries into shooting blocks and when so doing shall fix before September in each year the limit of wild animals of each species which may be allowed to be killed in each shooting block during the next shooting season and shall restrict the killing so as to prevent such number being exceeded.
(2)The Conservator of Forests may, in consultation with the Wild Life Conservation Officer, close any shooting block where he considers the number of animals has gone down due to over killing or to any other reason.
