(1)Any registered medical practitioner desiring to possess opium for use as an ingredient in any medicine and to sell medicines containing opium on prescription shall make an application to the Collector or authorised officer for a licence in that behalf.(2)On receipt of an application under sub-rule (1), the Collector or authorised officer shall make such inquiries as he deems necessary and if he is satisfied that there is no objection to grant the licence applied for, he may, subject to the orders of the State Government and the Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise, if any, grant the applicant a licence in Form O. P. I on payment of a fee of rupees ten.
