Section 59 in The Calcutta Hackney-Carriage Act, 1919

59. Hackney-carriage may ply for hire as stage-carriage. -

(1)Any hackney-carriage registered under this Act may ply for hire as a stage-carriage.
(2)The owner or driver of a carriage so plying for hire or hired as a stage-carriage shall not be subject to any by-law made under clause (g) of section 71, but shall be entitled to demand and take for the hire of such carriage such fares as shall be agreed upon between him and the several hirers, respectively, subject to any maximum which may be prescribed by the Words substituted by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937 and the Adaptation of Laws Order, 1950. [State Government] by an order in writing.
(3)All the other provisions of this Act shall be applicable to the case of a hackney-carriage plying as a stage-carriage, so far as the same may be applicable in each case.
