Section 31(1) in The Gujarat Agricultural Lands Ceiling Act, 1960
(1)If in the case of land vesting in the State Government under this Act, the Mamlatdar consider that the allotment of such land under Section 29 is likely to take time and that with a view to preventing the land remaining uncultivated, it is necessary to take such a step, he may lease the land for cultivation to any small holder subject to the following conditions.-(i)the lease shall be for a period of one year;(ii)the lessee shall pay rent at the rate fixed by the Mamlatdar subject to the provisions of the relevant tenancy law;(iii)the lessee shall be liable to pay the land revenue and the other cesses payable in respect of the land;(iv)if the lessee fails to vacate the land on the expiry of the term of the lease, he shall be liable to be summarily evicted by the Mamlatdar.
