Section 162(2) in The West Bengal Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
(2)Any Police Officer in uniform not below the rank of Sub-inspector or Sergeant o' any Officer of the Transport Department of and above the rank of Motor Vehicles inspector may board any transport .vehicle for the purpose of inspecting Part B of the permitProvided that the State Government may by order, exempt, on such condition as may he specified in the order, any transport vehicle or class of transport vehicles belonging to the Transport Undertakings from the operation of this sub-rule.
