Section 3 in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Act, 1971
3. Establishment of University.
(1)For the development of agriculture and for furthering the advancement of learning and prosecution of research in agriculture and allied sciences, on and from the appointed day, there shall be established a University by the name Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.(2)The University shall be a body corporate, shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the said name.(3)The principal seat of the University shall be located within the town limits of Coimbatore or in any place, within a radius of twenty-five kilometres around the town limits of Coimbatore.
