Section 50A in The West Bengal Factories Rules, 1958

50A. Precautions against electrical hazards.

(1)In every factory all electric supply lines and apparatus shall be sufficient in size and power for the work they may be required to do, and shall be constructed, situated, protected, worked and maintained in such a manner as to cause no risk of bodily injury:Provided that where automatic mechanism is installed which renders dead any electrical equipment on the occurrence of danger. such mechanism shall be taken into account by the Inspector when considering the adequacy or otherwise of the protection furnished :Provided further that in no case shall the Inspector accept as to objection under any other Act.
(2)Every portable hand lamp must be equipped with an insulating handle and the bulb must be enclosed in a wire cage which must be insulated from the metal parts of the lamp holder.
(3)Wherever practicable connection between the flexible cable of the portable apparatus and the supply line shall be made by a properly designed three pin plug and socket, so arranged that wrong insertion will not be possible.
(4)The type and the lay out of electrical apparatus to be used, and the method of electrical wiring, in any part of a factory in which any substance likely to induce ignitable or explosive mixture is used or stored, shall be subject to the approval of the Chief Inspector.Explanation: "Apparatus" includes all apparatus,machines and fittings in which conductors are used, or of which they form parts.
