Section 2 in The Chennai Corporation Servants Conduct Bye-Laws

2. Definitions.

- In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires,-
(a)"Corporation" means the Corporation of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).];
(b)"Corporation servant" means any person appointed to the posts in Class III and Class IV service of the Corporation establishment.
Explanation. - A Corporation servant whose services are placed by the Corporation at the disposal of the Government, a company, Corporation or organisations or another local authority shall, for the purposes of these bye-laws, be deemed to be a Corporation servant serving under the Corporation notwithstanding that his salary is drawn from sources other than from the Commissioner, Corporation of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).];
(c)"Commissioner" means the Commissioner, Corporation of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).];
(d)"member of the family" in relation to Corporation servant includes -
(i)the wife, child or step child of such Corporation servant whether residing with him or not and in relation to a Corporation servant who is a woman, the husband residing with her and dependent on her; and
(ii)any other persons related, whether, by blood or by marriage to the Corporation servant or to such Corporation servant's wife or husband and wholly dependent on such Corporation servant, but does not include a wife or husband legally separated from the Corporation servant, or a child or step child who is no longer in any way dependent upon him or her or of whose custody the Corporation servant has been deprived of by law.
