The Coinage of the Hundred Rupees and Five Rupees coined in honour of "Mahatma Basaveshwara" Rules, 2006Published vide Notification No. G.S.R. 22(E), 19th January, 2006Ministry of Finance(Department of Economic Affairs)G.S.R. 22(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 21 read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government herby makes the following rules, namely:-

1. Short title and commencement.

(1)These rules may be called the Coinage of the Hundred Rupees and Five Rupees coined in honour of "Mahatma Basaveshwara" Rules, 2006.
(2)They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Definition.

- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).

3. Standard Weight and Remedy allowed on coins of certain denominations coined in honour of "Mahatma Basaveshwara".

- The Standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act, in honour of "Mahatma Basaveshwara" and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below :-Table

Five Rupees 9 grams 1/100thplus or minus both for Copper andNickel, that is to say, Copper could vary from 74% to 76% andNickel from 24% to 26%. 1/40thplus or minus, that is tosay, the weight could vary from 8.7750 grams to 9.2250 grams.
