8. Markings.
(1)The owner of the vessel shall cause to be marked on each side of the vessel the particulars of the deck and the free board lines and also the disc as in the following figure :-(2)The markings referred to in sub-rule (1) shall be cut into the planking to a depth of at least one-eighth of an inch and shall be painted white or yellow on a dark background.
