- In any room in which steam pipes are used for the introduction of steam for the purposes of artificial humidification of the air the following provision shall apply:-(a)The diameter of such pipes shall not exceed 5 mm. and in the case of pipes installed after ast day of January 1950 the diameter shall not exceed 25 mm.(b)Such pipes shall be as short as is reasonably practicable.(c)All hangers supporting such pipes shall be separated from the bare pipes by an efficient insulator not less than 15 mm. in thickness.(d)No uncovered jet from such pipes shall project more than 100 mm. beyond the outer surface of any cover.(e)The steam pressure shall be as low as practicable and shall not exceed 5 kgs. per square centimetre.(f)The pipes employed for the introduction of steam into the air in a department shall be effectively covered, with such non-conducting material as may be approved by the Inspector.
