Section 12(1) in Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000
(1)Whenever a vacancy occurs by death, resignation or removal, or by vacation of a seat for any other reason, the vacancy shall be filled within six months of the occurrence of such vacancy:Provided that no election shall be held to fill a casual vacancy occurring within six months prior to the holding of a general election.
