Section 789(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)All officers who are directly appointed shall with the following exceptions, undertake the prescribed course of instruction at the Police Training College as laid down in the Bengal Police Training College Manual. The exceptions are :-(i)Sergeants.(ii)Sub-Inspectors or ex-army men who are exempted by special order of the Inspector-General.(iii)Assistant Sub-Inspectors appointed to specialised posts.
