Section 230 in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943

230. Pillars of the Great Trigonometrical Survey.

(a)Inspections of the Great Trigonometrical Survey pillars shall be made by police officers not below the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector, and officers-in-charge of police-stations shall undertake a fair share of such work. Chaukidars shall be instructed to report at once any damage that may occur to pillars situated in their beats.
(b)Any instance of damage or injury shall be reported at once to the District Magistrate, and a report shall be sent to the Superintendent annually as soon as possible after 1st January in form mentioned in regulation 1110.
Note. - In areas where there are union boards these duties have been transferred to them and to the circle officer.
