Section 67G(3) in The Punjab Factory Rules, 1952

(3)Barriers and Turngates. - (a) Where building or walls contain doors or gates, which open to a railway track, a barrier about one metre high shall be fixed parallel to and about sixty centimeters away from the building or walls outside the opening and extending several feet beyond it at either end, so that any person passing out may become aware of an approaching train when his pace is checked at the barrier.If the traffic on the nearest track is all in one direction, the barrier shall be in form of "L" with the end of the short leg abutting on to the wall and the other end opening towards the approach train.
(b)If the distance between wall and track cannot be made to accommodate such a barrier, the barrier or a turngate shall be placed at the inside of the opening.
(c)Where a footway passes close to a building or other obstruction as it approaches a railway track a barrier or a turngate shall be fixed in such a manner that a person approaching the track is compelled to move away from the building or obstruction and thus obtain timely sight of an approaching locomotive or wagon.
