The Rajasthan Forest (Payment of Rewards) Rules, 1970Published vide Notification No. G.S.R. 293, No. F. 10 (19) Revenue/A/62, dated 16-1-1971, published in Rajasthan Gazette, Part 4-(C), dated 23-1-1975In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of section 76 of the Rajasthan Forest Act, 1953 (Raj. Act XIII of 1953), the Government of Rajasthan hereby makes the following rules to regulate the rewards to be paid to officers and informers out of the proceeds of fines and confiscation, namely:-

1. Short title.

- These rules may be called the Rajasthan Forest (Payment of Rewards) Rules, 1970.

2. Amount of rewards.

- The rewards mentioned hereunder out of the proceeds of fines and confiscation may be given to the informers or officers who have contributed to the conviction of the offender or offenders or to the seizure of the property confiscated in respect of unlicensed shooting, namely:-
Offence The maximum rewards payable in respect ofunlicensed shooting
  Special Big Game Big Game Small Game
Offence detected within the reserved orprotected forests but outside the Game Sanctuaries and closedareas and shooting of non-prohibited species. Rs.100/- Rs.50/- Rs.20/-

3. Reward on conviction.

- The rewards may be given in cases where the information is found valid and leads to the conviction of the offender by a court of competent jurisdiction. The reward can also be given in cases where the offence is compounded.

4. Authority to give rewards.

- The rewards will be given by the Conservator of Forests of the circle in which the offence was committed, on satisfying himself that the informer or the officer has rendered valuable service for detecting or preventing breach of the Act, in such a way which otherwise would not have been detected or prevented.

5. Payment of rewards in excess of limit prescribed in rule 2.

- If in any case it is thought desirable to give rewards in excess of the amount mentioned in rule 2, it may be awarded by the Chief Conservator of Forests on the recommendation of the Conservator, Forest of the Circle.

6. Ineligibility of reward in certain cases.

- Gazetted Officers of the Government are ineligible for rewards under these rules.
