Section 1 in The West Bengal Slum Areas (Improvement And Clearance) Act, 1972
1. Short title and extent.
(1)This Act may be called the West Bengal Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1972.(2)It extends to the whole of West Bengal except the places which are declared as Cantonments under the Cantonments Act, 1924.(3)Save as otherwise provided in this Act the powers of the State Government and the prescribed authority conferred by or under this Act shall be restricted to the area declared as slum area under section 3 of this Act.
