Section 289(24) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964
(24)Upper Yardmen who fail in the examination at the end of the course shall similarly be brought before the Permanent Naval Board, which shall make recommendations to the Chief of the Naval Staff as to their future. The Board may also make the following recmmendations :(a)In the case of Executive Branch Candidates. - The Board may recommend such candidates as qualified educationally for Branch List if considered suitable. Sailors so recommended shall be [ranked] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973] Acting Petty Officer if not holding that or a higher [rank] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973].(b)In the case of Engineering and Electrical Branch Candidates. - The Board shall make recommendations to the Chief of the Naval Staff as to their future. Non-Artificer Electrical sailors so recommended shall be [ranked] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973] Acting Petty Officer Electrician (Power)/(Radio)/(Air)/(Air Radio) if not already holding that or a higher [rank] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973](c)In the case of Supply and Secretariat Branch Candidates. - The Board may recommend such candiates as qualified professionally for the [rank] [Inserted by S.R.O. 222, dated 29th June, 1972] of P.O. Writer or Stores Petty Officer. Sailors so recommended shall be [ranked] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973] Acting Petty Officer Writer or Acting Stores Petty Officer if not already holding that or a higher [rank] [Substitued by S.R.O. 192, dated 10th September, 1973].
