(1)A Wards Committee shall, subject to the general direction of the Standing Committee, supervise, within the territorial limits of the wards, the functions of the Municipal Corporation or the Municipal Council, as the case may be, relating to the provisions of water supply pipes and sewerage and drainage connections to premises, removal of accumulated water on streets or public places due to rain or otherwise, collection and removal of solid wastes, disinfection, provisions for health immunization service, for civic services in slums, and for lighting, repair of roads, maintenance of parks and drains and such other functions as may be prescribed.(2)A member of a Wards Committee may, when so authorised by the Wards Committee, supervise the performance of the functions referred to in sub- section (1) in his ward.
