Section 3 in Rules for the Biju Pattnaik Award for outstanding performance in promotion of Sports and Games

3. Definition.

- In these Rules unless the context otherwise requires,-
(a)Year means; 1st January to 31st December of the year
(b)Coach means; a person who has obtained diploma in coaching from any of the Centre of N.S.N.I.S. and have been employed as a Coach in State Government, Sports & Youth Services Department, S.A.I., O.C.S. or any other Corporate/Private Sectors/Organisations/ Clubs with regular sports activities on pursuing active coaching in individual capacity.
(c)Accredited sports journalist means;
(i)Sports reporter/journalist (mobile/desk), of a major daily news paper/magazine.
(ii)Freelance reporter of print media/electronic media operating inside the State of Orissa.
(iii)Photo journalist.
(d)Government means; the Government of Orissa, Sports & Youth Services Department.
(e)Evaluation Committee means; a Committee set up by the Government every year to scrutinize the entries and to recommend the names of awardees to Government.
(f)Event means; National/International sports events as specified below :
(i)National Games/Inter State Tournaments/All India Inter University Competitions/All India School Meets conducted by concerned recognized National Federations.
(ii)Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup (Senior and Junior), Common Wealth Games, Asian Games, Afro-Asian Games, SAP Games, Asian Championship (Sr. and Jr.), World University Games, World School Games, All England Badminton Championship, Grand Prix Tennis Tournaments and other similar events conducted by concerned recognized International Federations.
(g)Sports discipline means; the sports discipline recognized by International Olympic Council (I.O.C.). India Olympic Association (I.O.A.), Government of India (G.O.I.), Sports Authority of India (S.A.I.), Government of Orissa (G.O.O.)
