Section 9 in The Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018
9. Term of office of Director General.
- The Director General shall hold office for a term of three years or until he attains the age of sixty years, whichever is earlier:Provided that the term of the Director General may be extended by the Central Government for a period not exceeding two years or until he attains the age of sixty years, whichever is earlier:Provided further that where the Central Government is satisfied that the re-appointment of an outgoing Director General after he has attained the age of sixty years is in the interest of the Bureau, it may for reasons to be recorded in writing, reappoint him for a further period not exceeding two years.
