699. Senior officer to take command of guard. [§ 12, Act V, 1861].
(a)When a police guard is supplied, the senior police officer present shall take Command of all those who from the guard, whether police, warders, chaukidars or the like.(b)Inspection. - The officer in command is responsible for the conduct of the guard. The Superintendent shall either himself inspect the guard or cause it to be inspected at short intervals.(c)Accommodation. - Accommodation shall be provided and arrangements for water-supply shall be made by the department to which, or person to whom, the guard is furnished; but when guards are supplied for jail health camps, if the Superintendent can supply tents, they shall use them instead.
