(2)Holiday means -(a)a holiday prescribed or notified by or under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and(b)in relation to any particular office, a day on which such office is ordered, by notification of the Government in the Gazette, to be closed for the transaction of Government business without reserve or qualification, and in the case of judicial officers, holidays notified by the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad and the Chief Court of Oudh.The term does not include local holidays which may be granted at the discretion of heads of offices, provided that there are no arrears of work, nor such merely permissive or discretionary holidays as the last Saturday of each month.(See also the note at the beginning of Chapter VII of these rules)
