There are similar problems with the doubling of railway line projects in Orissa. There is the doubling of Nergundi-Talcher railway line in Shri K.P. Singh Deo’s constituency. It took years to get the land acquired; hardly 21 acres of land were to be acquired, but it took years. Naturally, the cost overrun is going up and the doubling of the railway line between Nergundi and Talcher is stalled. There is the same kind of problems with Paradip-Raghunathpur-Rahma doubling project. It is taking years for issuing of a simple notification by the State Government to allow construction of a bridge by the Railways. I do not know for what purpose it is being stalled or whether the motivating force is not there to ensure that the notification is issued and for the simple reason of non-issuing of notification, so many projects are being stalled for years together.
