Meanwhile, the Railway Budget 2019 also claimed to complete the electrification of Railways’ broad-gauge network by 2021-22. For 2019-20, electrification of 7,000 route kilometre has been targeted. Moreover, the target of new railway lines, gauge conversion, doubling and tripling for this year is 3,750 kilometres against 3,596 kilometres previously. Allocations of Rs. 20,000 crore has been made for the Railway Safety Fund for 2019-20. Elimination of all unmanned level crossings is an appreciable action of the Railway Ministry.

In the Budget, funds of Rs.7,255 crore have been allotted for construction of new railway lines, Rs.2,200 crore for gauge conversion, Rs.700 crore for doubling, Rs.6114.82 crore for rolling stock, and Rs.1,750 crore for signalling and telecom.

With regard to my new State, Andhra Pradesh, the total cost of Obulavaripalle-Krishnapatman project is Rs.733 crore.  So far, 20 km. has been completed and the target is to complete the remaining 93 km. in the current financial year.  No timeframe has been mentioned for the completion of this project.
