48. The Petitioner relied upon the judgment of the Supreme Court in Jang Ram v. State of Haryana . The judgment does not support the petitioner's contention. In fact, the Supreme Court held that if a provision is plain and unambiguous and the legislative intent is clear, there is no option to call into aid the ejusdem generis rule and that the rule should be applied with caution.
