interest on the same line on which he was paid interest
on delayed payment of gratuity on both the aforesaid
counts, i.e. commuted pension ... required to be paid
interest for non-payment of commuted pension and such
interest may be paid by the Department to the petitioner,
with interest
directions to make payment to the retired officers, the interest
on the commuted value of pension from 01.11.1993 to
31.03.1995.

in payment of pension or commuted pension.
Ordinarily, it is so. But, here, in this case
there is some
Commuted Pension.

counsel for the appellant could not place any Rule before us, which
demonstrates that on Commuted Pension, interest is payable. However
commuted value of pension and for payment of interest on such commuted value of pension. It is pointed out that the said petition came ... only for a limited relief of granting interest on the delayed payment of commuted value of pension. Even this direction of the learned single Judge

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner has
submitted that some of the employees earlier

government to pay interest on pension and commuted
pension and, therefore, the Committee did not recommend
for payment of interest over the amount of pension ... payment
of provisional pension, commuted pension and final
pension in light of the observations made hereinabove and
to pay the interest at the rate
paid gratuity of Rs.11,52,839/ and the amount of commuted
pension Rs.12,87,795/ in totalling Rs.24,40,634/ and that ... acceptance for payment of interest but only on gratuity.
However, prayer in respect of grant of interest on commuted
pension is rejected as meritless
petitioner. Now, so far as the issue regarding
interest on the amount of commutated pension is concerned, in my
opinion, the same could ... granted. No interest could be paid on
the amount of commutated pension. Hence, the relief claimed by the
petitioner, being devoid of any merits, deserves
