Section 23(7)(iv) in The U.P. Pravidhik Shiksha (Admission Conduct of Examinations and Conferment of Certificates and Diplomas) Regulations, 1992

(iv)A student who have to reappear/back paper in not more than one subject shall have to obtain 80 per cent in that subject to qualify it in subsequent examination.
