Section 23 in The U.P. Pravidhik Shiksha (Admission Conduct of Examinations and Conferment of Certificates and Diplomas) Regulations, 1992

23. Minimum percentage.

(1)A candidate appearing in Diploma or Certificate Examination other than Final Pharmacy Examination and the Final Secondary Technical Certificate Examination shall be declared to have passed an examination, if he/she obtains-
(a)not less than 33 per cent marks in written examination in each theory subjects;
(b)not less than 40 per cent marks in each of the practical examination;
(c)not less than 50 per cent sessional marks in each subject, theory/practical/project;
(d)not less than 45 per cent marks in the aggregate.
(2)A successful candidate in the Final Diploma or Certificate Examination other than Final Secondary Technical Certificate Examination who obtains atleast:
(a)Sixty-six per cent of the total marks in the aggregate shall be placed in the First Division.
(b)Forty-five per cent of the total marks but less than 66 per cent of the total marks in the aggregate shall be placed in the Second Division.
(c)A successful candidate of the Final Diploma or Certificate/ Special Back Paper Examination shall be awarded division on the basis of his aggregate obtained at the preceding Annual Examination.
(d)A candidate getting 80 per cent or above in the aggregate shall be awarded 'Honours'.
(3)A successful candidate at the first or Second Year Annual or Special Back Paper Examination shall only be declared passed.
(4)A candidate appearing at the Final Secondary Technical Certificate Examination shall be declared to have passed the Examination if he/she obtains-
(a)at least 33 per cent marks in each subject Group 'A';
Provided that in the Science (Physics and Chemistry) subject the student will have to secure the minimum pass marks in theory and praeticals separately as prescribed by the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, U.P., Allahabad.
(b)not less than 33 per cent marks in aggregate, to Group 'A';
(c)at least 60 per cent marks in each practical (including sessionals in Group 'B';
(d)not less than 45 per cent marks in aggregate of all the theory, praeticals and sessional of group 'A' and 'B' together and including discipline/N.C.C./Games marks.
(5)Successful candidates in the Final Secondary Technical Certificate Examination obtaining :
(a)Sixty-six per cent of the total marks in aggregate shall be placed in the First Division;
(b)Forty-five per cent of the total marks but less than 66 per cent of the total marks in aggregate shall be placed in the Second Division;
(c)Successful candidates of Final Secondary Technical Certificate, Special Back Paper Examination shall be awarded division on the basis of the aggregate obtained at the preceding Annual Examination.
(d)Candidates getting 75 per cent or above in a theory subject shall be awarded at distinction in the theory subject.
(6)A candidate appearing in the Diploma Pharmacy Examination shall be declared to have passed an examination, if he/ she obtains :
(a)At least 33 per cent marks in English and at least 40 per cent marks in each of the remaining subjects separately in the written tests (including sessional records) and at least 45 per cent in the practical tests (including sessional records) in such subject.
(b)The candidate securing 75 per cent or above in any subject or subjects shall be declared to obtain distinction in that subject or those subjects provided he passes in all the subjects in the same examination.
(7)A candidate appearing in Diploma in Air Craft Maintenance Engineering Course-
(i)has to appear in each of theory and practical subjects and has to pass each requirement separately;
(ii)The theory subjects shall contain one section of objective type questions and another section, of essay type questions carrying 60 per cent and 40 per cent pass marks separately-
(a)obtain minimum of 70 per cent marks in section 'A' i.e. objective type questions; and
(b)obtain minimum of 60 per cent pass marks in section 'B' i.e. essay type question.
(iii)shall be declared to have passed an examination, if he/she obtains minimum of 70 per cent marks in each paper separately.
(iv)A student who have to reappear/back paper in not more than one subject shall have to obtain 80 per cent in that subject to qualify it in subsequent examination.
