17. Special mode of appointment.
(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in Statute 15, the Board of Governors may invite a person of high academic distinction and professional attainments to accept the post of a National Professor/Distinguished scientist/Visiting professor or any other equivalent academic post in the University on a respectable remuneration and terms and conditions as it may deem fit, and appoint the person to such post.(2)The Board of Governors may appoint any member of the academic staff working in any other university/institute or organisation as National Professor/ Professor/ Distinguished Scientist, Visiting Professors on a teaching/research assignment or for undertaking a project or any other work on such terms and conditions as may be determined by the Board of Governors in accordance with the manner specified by the Statutes.
