Section 2 in Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University Act, 2014
2. Definitions.
- In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-(a)"Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University;(b)"authorities" means the authorities of the University;(c)"Board" means the Board of Governors of the University;(d)"Chairman" means the Chairman of the Board;(e)"Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University;(f)"college" means a college or an institution maintained by or admitted to the privileges of the University under this Act;(g)"Dean" means the Dean of the University;(h)"faculty" means the faculty of the University;(i)"member" means a member of the Board established under this Act and includes its Chairman;(j)"Principal" means the Head of a college (by whatever name he may be called ) and includes, when there is no Principal, the person for the time being duly appointed to act as Principal, and in the absence of Principal or the acting Principal, a Vice-Principal duly appointed, as such;(k)"Registrar" means the Registrar of the University;(l)"regulations" means the regulations of the University made under this Act;(m)"section" means section of this Act;(n)"State Government" means the Government of the State of Punjab;(o)"statutes" means the statutes of the University;(p)"technical education" means the education in the subjects of Engineering Technologies, Sciences, Management, Humanities, Pharmacy, Social Sciences and Architecture and such other subjects, as may be deemed fit by the State Government from time to time;(q)"University" means the Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda, as incorporated under this Act;(r)"Vice-Chairman" means the Vice-Chairman of the Board; and(s)"Vice-Chancellor" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
