21. The Faculty Councils for post-graduate and undergraduate studies.
(1)There shall be the following Faculty Councils for postgraduate and undergraduate studies :-(a)the Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Engineering and Technology;(b)the Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Arts;(c)the Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Science.(2)The Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Arts and the Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Science shall each consist of the following members :(i)the Vice-Chancellor- Chairman;(ii)the Head or Heads of the Department or Departments concerned;[* * * * * *] [[Clause (iii) omitted by W.B. Act 5 of 1983, which was as under :'(iii) the Professor or Professors of the Department or Departments concerned, if any;'.]](iv)[ one or more than one teacher shall be elected by the teachers of each Department of the faculty council from amongst themselves in the following manner:- [Substituted '(iv) three Teachers, of whom at least one shall be a Professor, from each of the Departments of the Faculty Council concerned, elected jointly by such Teachers of the respective Department from amongst themselves;' by Act No. 12 of 2011 dated 25.1.2012.](i)one Professor from a Department if total number of teachers in it does not exceed five;(ii)one Professor and one Associate Professor from a Department if total number of teachers in it does not exceed ten;(iii)two Professors and one Associate Professor from a Department if total number of teachers in it does not exceed twenty;(iv)two Professors and two Associate Professors from a Department if total number of teachers in it exceeds twenty;](v)the Principal or Principals of affiliated college or colleges concerned;(vi)one Teacher from affiliated colleges teaching in the subject or subjects concerned elected jointly by the Teachers of such colleges;(vii)two persons having special knowledge in the subject or subjects concerned nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.(viii)[ one student representative, pursuing Undergraduate studies in the University and another student representative pursuing Post-Graduate studies in the University, to be elected by such Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students, respectively, from amongst themselves in the manner as may be prescribed by the Statutes; [Inserted by Act No. 12 of 2011, dated 25.1.2012.](ix)one research scholar pursuing research in the University to be elected by research scholars from amongst themselves in the manner as may be prescribed by the Statutes](3)The Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies in Engineering and Technology shall consist of the following members :-(i)the Vice-Chancellor- Chairman;(ia)[ the Pro-Vice-Chancellor- Vice-Chairman;] [Clause (ia) inserted by W.B.
