37. Minimum dimension of steps.
(1)No staircase in a residential building shall have a riser of more than 0.20 metre and a tread of less than 0.25 metre.(2)No staircase in a commercial, public or industrial building shall have a riser of more than 0.18 and a tread of less than 0.27 metre.(3)Notwithstanding anything contained in (1) and (2) above, staircases in private portions of public buildings and industrial building not open to the general public may be of the sizes and materials mentioned in bye-law 35.
