Section 9 in Punjab Cinemas (Regulation) Rules, 1952

9.

(i)Before granting or renewing [a three years] [Punjab Government Notification published in Punjab Government Gazetted, Legislative Supplement Part III, dated 28.11.1961.] licence [the licensing authority shall within a period of seven days of the receipt of the application of the licensee] [Punjab Government Notification published in Punjab Government Gazetted, Legislative Supplement Part III, dated 22.4.1963.],-
(a)can upon the Executive Engineer to examine the structural features of the building and report [within a period of one month] [Punjab Government Notification published in Punjab Government Gazetted, Legislative Supplement Part III, dated 22.4.1963.] whether the rules relating thereto have been duly complied with.
(b)call upon the Electric Inspector to examine the cinematograph and the electrical equipment to be used in the building and to report [within a period of one month] [Punjab Government Notification published in Punjab Government Gazetted, Legislative Supplement Part III, dated 22.4.1963.] whether they comply with the requirements both of these rules and of the Indian Electricity Act, 1910, and of such of the rules made thereunder as are applicable, whether all reasonable precautions have been taken to protect spectators and employees from electric shock and to prevent the introduction of fire into the building through the use of electrical equipment, and whether the prescribed fire-extinguishing appliances have been provided, are in working order and suitable for the purpose for which they are intended.
(ii)Defects revealed by such inspections shall be brought to the notice of the applicant or licensee and of the licensing authority, who may refuse to grant or renew the licence unless and until they are remedied to his satisfaction.
