- In any room in which steam pipes are used for the introduction of steam for the purpose of artificial humidification of the air the following provisions shall apply -(a)[ The diameter of such pipes shall not exceed 50 mm and in the case of pipes installed after the 1st day of January 1957 the diameter shall not exceed 25mm.] [Substituted by SRO No. 1149/2001 dt. 28-12-2001.](b)Such pipes shall be as short as is reasonably practicable.(c)[ All hangers supporting such pipes shall be separated from the bare pipes by an efficient insulation not less than half an 12 mm in thickness.] [Substituted by SRO No. 1149/2001 dt. 28-12-2001.](d)No uncovered jet from such pipe shall project more than 115mm beyond the outer surface of any cover.(e)The steam pressure shall be as low as practicable and shall not exceed 5Kg/cm 2(f)The pipe employed for the introduction of steam into the air in a department shall be effectively covered with such non-conducting material, as may be approved by the Inspector in order to minimize the amount of heat radiated by them into the department.
