Section 3(3) in The Assam Technical Education Service Rules, 1981
(3)(a)The cadres of Professor, Assistant Professor, Head of Department Polytechnic and Lecturer of Engineering Colleges as well as of Polytechnic shall have subject-wise branches and each branch shall be deemed to constitute a separate cadre.(b)The posts of Workship Superintendent in Engineering Colleges as also in Polytechnic shall belong to Mechanical Branch while the post of Superintendent, Junior Technical School may belong either to the Mechanical branch or to the Electrical branch.
