The University of Rajasthan (Amendment) Act, 1966Act No. 4 of 1966[Published in Rajasthan Gazette Extraordinary Part IV-A, dated 29-3-1966, page 295.][Received the assent of the Governor on the 25th day of March, 1966.]An Act further to amend the University of Rajasthan Act, 1946.Be it enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature in the Seventeenth Year of the Republic of India, as follows.-

1. Short title and commencement.

(1)This Act may be called the University of Rajasthan (Amendment) Act, 1966.
(2)It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the 12th day of November, 1962.

2. Amendment of section 18.

- In section 18 of the University of Rajasthan Act, 1946, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act-
(a)in the opening sentence, before the expression "The Senate shall", the expression "(1)" shall be inserted, and in sub-section (1) as so numbered, in sub-division I, under the sub-head "Ex-officio Members", for the existing clause (x), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-
"(x) the Director of Education (Primary and Secondary), Rajasthan or where the post of such Director is in abeyance, the Additional-Director of Education (Primary and Secondary), Rajasthan, or any such officer by whatever name designated, who is, for the time being, appointed by the State Government to discharge the duties and perform the functions of Director,";
(b)in sub-section (2), after the words "ex-officio members", the expression "excluding those specified in clauses (xii), (xv), (xvi) and (xvii) of sub-section (1)" shall be inserted.

3. Amendment of section 21.

- Section 21 of the principal Act shall be re-numbered as sub-section (1) thereof, and after sub-section (1) as so re-numbered, the following new sub-section shall be inserted, namely: -"(2) The term of office of the elected and nominated members of the Syndicate shall be three years".

4. Repeal.

- The [University of Rajasthan (Amendment) Ordinance, 1965] [Ordinance was Published in Rajasthan Gazette, Extraordinary, Pat IV-B, dated 6-11-1965, page 18.] (Ordinance 5 of 1965), is hereby repealed.
