Section 14 in Himachal Pradesh Universities of Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry Act, 1986
14. The Academic Council.
(1)There shall be an Academic Council for the University which shall, subject to the provisions of the Act and the Statutes, superintend, direct and control and be responsible for the maintenance of standards of instructions, education and examinations and other matters connected with the conferment of degrees or award of diplomas and certificates and shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed on it by the Statutes. It shall advise the Vice Chancellor on all academic matters of the University.(2)The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely :(i)Vice-Chancellor, who shall be the ex-officio Chairman;(ii)Deans of Colleges of the University;(iii)Director of Research of the University;(iv)Director of Extension Education of the University;(v)Director (Forestry Education), Forest Research Institute, Dehradun;(vi)Librarian of the University;(vii)Student's Welfare Officer of the University;(viii)two senior-most professors from each college for a term of two years, by rotation;(ix)in respect of-(a)The Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishva Vidyalaya, two eminent scientists, one in agriculture and the other in animal sciences;(b)The Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, two eminent scientists, one in horticulture and the other in forestry; and(x)Registrar shall be the ex-officio Secretary of the Academic Council.(3)One-third of the number of members of the Academic Council shall form a quorum.
