Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy (Stay of Ejectment Proceedings) Act, 1966(Act No. 33 of 1966)[Received the assent of the Governor on 28th October, 1966, and published in Government Gazette dated 29th October, 1966 (Ext.)]An Act to provide for stay of ejectment proceedings relating to tenants.Be it enacted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature in the Seventeenth year of the Republic of India as follows:

1. Short title and extent

(1)This Act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy (Stay of Ejectment proceedings) Act, 1966.
(2)It shall extend to the whole of the Jammu and Kashmir State.

2. Stay of certain applications and proceedings relating to ejectment

-Notwithstanding anything contained in the Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy Act, 1980, or any other law for the time being in force, all applications or proceedings relating to ejectment of tenants under section 49 of the said Act pending on the date of the commencement of this Act shall be and remain stayed for such [period as the Government may by notification in the Government Gazette determine] [Till 12th day of July, 1978 by SRO-294 dated 1-6-1978.].

3. Repeal and saving

(1)The Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy (Stay of Ejectment Proceedings) Ordinance, 1966 (X of 1966) is hereby repealed.
(2)Notwithstanding such repeal anything done, any action taken or any order made under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done, taken or made under this Act as if this Act were in force on the day when such thing was done, action taken or order made.
