The Punjab Land Revenue (Abolition) Act, 1997Punjab Act No. 8 of 1997An Act to provide for the abolition of land revenue and additional land revenue payable under the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887.Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Forthy-eighth year of the Republic of India as follows :-

1. Short title.

This Act may be called the Punjab Land Revenue (Abolition) Act, 1997.

2. Abolition of land revenue and additional land revenue.

(i)With effect from the Rabi Harvest of agricultural year 1996-97, the land revenue and additional land revenue payable under the provisions of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887 (Punjab Act No. XVII of 1887) shall be deemed to have been abolished.
(ii)The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything contrary contained in the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887 (Punjab Act No. XVII of 1887).
