Section 26 in The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences Act, 1995
26. Research and extension.
(1)Subject to the provision of this Act and the Statutes, the University shall establish veterinary and animal sciences, fishery sciences, and dairy technology organisations for doing basic research on problems relating to veterinary surgery and medicine, animal husbandry, fishery, dairy technology, and allied subjects for the purpose of aiding the development of animal husbandry, fishery and dairy technology, and shall, for such purpose, establish as many veterinary, livestock, dairy and fishery research stations as may be necessary in co-operation with the concerned Departments of the University.(2)The University shall establish veterinary and animal sciences, fishery sciences, and dairy technology extension education organisations which shall make available the information obtained on the basis of research to students, extension workers, livestock farmers, fish farmers, and fishermen, and shall conduct demonstration and training programme for the benefit of such persons in co-operation with the concerned Departments of the State Government.(3)The University shall undertake such veterinary and animal sciences, fishery sciences, and dairy technology extension education activities as may be deemed necessary for the purpose of-(a)informing and educating by demonstration the livestock farmers, fish farmers and fishermen the findings and developments of research on improved practices essential to uplift the conditions of the rural living;(b)increasing animal and fish production with special emphasis on food productions and utilisation; and(c)multiplying the new breeds and improved stains of modern technology evolved or introduced by the veterinary, animal husbandry, and fishery research stations.
